Body Found in Grass Outside Apartment

A body was found lying in the grass in an apartment complex on Margarita Road today.

It was found around 7 a.m. by a neighbor at the Somerset Apartments at 42211 Stonewood Rd. near Margarita Road, according to deputies on the scene.

It was lying slouched against the wall of unit 11, said Martha Andrade, who said she discovered it.

She was out on her regular morning walk when she saw a man she thought was sleeping near a paved walkway, she said.

She recognized him as a 39-year-old father of four named Jose she often waved to during her morning promenades, she said.

The man lived nearby in unit nine, and she suspected nothing was wrong at first. “I thought maybe he was drunk,” she said.

Though he usually had dark skin, he was perfectly white. So, she flagged down the apartments’ maintenance man.

As he inspected the body, the wife of the victim came out of their apartment.

“She just started getting hysterical,” Andrade said. “She said, ‘That’s my husband.’”
