Story About Man Luring Children Was a Lie
A tale three young children told about a man trying to get them in his SUV with candy was made up, a sheriff's official says.
Three children who told authorities a man offered them candy in an effort to get them into his vehicle made up the story, a sheriff's sergeant said today.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a man who got out of a vehicle in the 29600 block of Nightcrest Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Sunday and offered the children some candy, sheriff's Sgt. Jon Wade said.

On Sunday night, one of the children's parents told deputies the children made up the story.
Wade said officers questioned the parents and children but still did not know why they did it.
