Suspect Arrested for Anza Slaying

Mark William Winder, 21, was arrested on suspicion of killing 20-year-old Trevor Michael Slusher.


A man was arrested on suspicion of killing a man in Anza.

Mark William Winder, 21, was arrested on Wednesday on an unrelated felony warrant for allegedly cultivating marijuana, according to jail records.

When he was booked into the Southwest Detention Center, the Central Homicide Unit uncovered a connection between the suspect and the murder. A charge of murder was then added to the drug charges, according to sheriff's Sgt. Herman Lopez.

Sheriff's deputies found the victim, 20-year-old Trevor Michael Slusher, dead from gunshot wounds around 9:37 a.m. on Gassner Road at Roger Lane in Anza, according to the sergeant.

CalFire treated the man, but he bled to death on the scene, Lopez wrote in an announcement.
