Suspected Compton Gang Member Arrested at Murrieta Home

A suspected Lueders Park gang member was taken into custody early Thursday after a Murrieta/Hemet police SWAT team assisted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in serving a search warrant.

A person with alleged ties to the Lueders Park gang out of Compton—affiliated with the Bloods—was taken into custody Thursday at a Murrieta home following heavy police presence.

Details remain sketchy on the arrest that Los Angeles County sheriff's sergeants and a Murrieta police lieutenant confirmed took place at about 5 a.m. Thursday in the 41400 block of Lily Avenue, off of Jefferson Avenue.

One Murrieta resident reported: "A lady on Lily Avenue said she woke up to a sniper aiming a gun at her house yelling 'come out with your hands up!'"

Murrieta police Lt. Tony Conrad confirmed the police action that apparently alarmed residents.

"The Murrieta/Hemet Regional SWAT Team did in fact serve a search warrant...," Conrad wrote, in an emailed response to Patch. "The Murrieta Police Department handled the warrant service in our city as an assist for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office. The service resulted in the arrest of one individual, as well as a search of the residence."

A detective with the LA County sheriff's Compton station Operation Safe Streets task force drafted the warrant, Conrad said.

"Murrieta PD's involvement in the case ended after the warrant was served," the lieutenant said.

Conrad said further details would need to come from LASD.

Several calls to LASD placed by Patch have revealed "a large-scale, gang-related warrant" was served at several locations in the region Thursday, including at the Lily Avenue home in Murrieta.

One LASD sergeant out of the Compton station told Patch the "investigation was ongoing" and details were not yet being released to the public.

Another LASD sergeant told Patch the suspect arrested in Murrieta was involved with the Lueders Park gang.

The suspect's name was not provided.

Twenty-five Murrieta officers assisted in the take-down, a Los Angeles sheriff's sergeant told Patch.
