A police pursuit Tuesday night in Temecula has resulted in an arrest, officials are reporting.
Temecula resident Norman Jones, 21, was jailed but not before leading the Temecula Police Department on a hunt, according to a report from Sgt Steve Fredericks.
The incident began around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after deputies received a call about a residential burglary alarm in the 45000 block of Saint Tisbury Street, the sergeant explained.
“Arriving officers observed a black male adult suspect flee from the residence on foot. A perimeter was established in the neighborhood, and the Temecula Police K9 unit, along with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department helicopter, responded to assist in locating the suspect,” Fredericks reported.
While officers were searching for the suspect, deputies allegedly found stolen property linked to the burglary, the sergeant said.
Jones was eventually found climbing a wall to the backyard where the stolen property was located.
“After a brief foot pursuit, Jones was detained,” the sergeant said. “[He] was booked into jail on charges including residential burglary and resisting arrest.”
