Alleged Child Abuser on Paid Leave

The woman was accused of leaving her 12-year-old daughter naked in a car while she went to work and is on paid leave.

 

A teacher's aide accused of child endangerment was on paid administrative leave today.

Tracey Lynn Betts, 40, of Murrieta, was arrested last week at Vail Elementary School after neighbors allegedly spotted her daughter sneaking around nearby streets in Temecula eating from trash bins naked, clothed only in a floor mat from a car.

If charges are filed, Betts will be put on unpaid administrative leave, according to the Press-Enterprise.

The case is being reviewed, though no charges were yet filed, DA spokesperson John Hall told the newspaper.

The child was the target of a search on Dec. 19 when she ran away from home, a sheriff's official told the newspaper.

She slipped out in the night and was found wandering the streets in her pajamas. To read about the search, click here.
