Temecula Clerk Busted for Selling Alcohol to Minor in Sting Operation

More than a dozen stores were targeted in the operation, but only one fell for the bait.

A retail clerk in Temecula allegedly sold an alcoholic beverage to an underage decoy during a sting operation, a sergeant said Saturday.

Sheriff's deputies Thursday picked 18 liquor stores, but only one fell out of compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of liquor to persons younger than 21, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Chris Gaskins said.

The clerk, Arturo Meza, 20, of Temecula, was cited and released, Gaskins said.
