Temecula CVS Evacuated as Multiple People Suffer Respiratory Symptoms

CVS at 33205 Temecula Parkway, at the corner of Butterfield Stage Road, was evacuated at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, according to a sheriff's sergeant.

A CVS Pharmacy in Temecula was evacuated Wednesday night when multiple customers and employees started suffering respiratory symptoms, a sheriff's official said.

CVS at 33205 Temecula Parkway, at the corner of Butterfield Stage Road, was evacuated at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Lisa McConnell told Patch.

Deputies first responded to the store at 8:02 p.m. when a caller reported at least eight people, including employees, were coughing near the pharmacy section. Eye irritation was also reported, McConnell said.

The fire department was called out, she said, and advised evacuating the store.

Nobody was transported to a hospital, the sergeant added.

"Whatever irritated everyone—an unknown substance—seems to have dissipated," McConnell said, just before 10 p.m.

Authorities were expected to remain on scene for 30 minutes to an hour, she said.

"Right now they are in clean-up mode."
