Temecula Men Found Safe on Pechanga Mountain

Search teams were called to help the two men after getting lost in the Pechanga Mountains around 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

A Riverside County Sheriff's helicopter helped locate two men who had gotten lost while hiking on Pechanga Mountain late Thursday.

One of the hikers used his cell phone about 9:15 p.m. Thursday to contact authorities and request assistance while hiking the area west of Pechanga Casino, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

The helicopter unit was able to locate the men, identified as Bryce Mastin and Derrek Seville, but could not land in the are due to difficult terrain. The Riverside County Mountain Rescue Unit and Pechanga Rangers were called to assist the men off the mountain.

Before authorities arrived, one of the men was able to find the trail and get to safety. The other waited as rescue teams went up the mountain and bring him to safety.

Neither man was injured.
