Temecula police were out in force Wednesday morning on Rancho Caliornia Road, where they issued 53 citations, it was announced.
The "high-visibility traffic enforcement detail" was held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in response to several serious traffic collisions along the Rancho California Road corridor, according to a news release.
Citations were issued for violations ranging from speeding to red-light tickets, Temecula police Sgt. John Magnan stated.
Additionally, one misdemeanor arrest was made for an alleged commercial driving violation and one for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol.
Wednesday's enforcement was also in response to citizens of the community who voiced concerns regarding speeding and other traffic violations, according to Magnan.
"The goal of this operation was to make motorists more aware of the rules of the road and to promote safe driving," Magnan stated. "This program is scheduled to run throughout the year on various roadways within the city of Temecula."
