Temecula Police Join Motorcycle Safety Coalition

The coalition was formed to reduce the motorcycle fatalities on Highway 74.

Temecula's police department joined Murrieta and Lake Elsinore to form a motorcycle safety coalition.

The coalition, which aims to reduce motorcycle-related fatalities, will patrol Highway 79 heavily on Saturday.

It was paid for by the Motorcycles Safety Coalitions grant, according to CHP Officer Nathan Baer.

Since the inception of this coalition, it has reduced the number of fatal motorcycle crashes, and it had some success, according to the stayed with out anything you CHP Capt. Ernie Sanchez.

“The grant has not only raised awareness, but has also helped educate motorists traveling on SR-74, so much so that no motorcyclist fatalities have occurred this year in comparison to three fatal collisions we had last year," he said. "There has also been a noticeable reduction in speeding and other dangerous driving habits.”
