Temecula Toddler Hospitalized in Near Drowning

Fire officials said the boy was in serious condition when he was hospitalized this weekend.

A 2-year-old boy was alive but suffered serious injuries after he nearly drowned at residential swimming pool in Temecula, authorities said this weekend.

Firefighters were dispatched at 3:41 p.m. Saturday to the 43100 block of Vista Del Rancho about the incident.

A relative had yanked the toddler out of the water and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him by the time firefighters arrived, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

The boy was breathing and was taken to a hospital where he was listed in serious condition, Hagemann said.  An update on his condition was not available Monday.

Two other near-drownings were reported in Riverside County the same day-- one in Eastvale involving a young girl, and another in Lake Elsinore involving a male toddler, according to Riverside County Fire Department records.

On June 7, 2014 at a friends house same thing happened right there in front of girls mother and elder sister. The pulled her out to safety, she threw up all over the place, but later that same day a phone call was received from the same girls cousin in S.D. Area and a 2 year old male cousin didn't make it. I was in shock, can't really see how people trust there babies around pools larger than 1.5 inches, too dangerous. I really believe there is other out door cooling actives that would be just as good for a little one.
