A Temecula woman killed in a crash on a rain-slicked 15 Freeway in Fallbrook died of blunt force injuries to her head, neck and upper body, a medical examiner's report stated.
Elvia Yduarte, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the northbound Interstate 15 -- south of Old Highway 395 -- the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Yduarte was riding in the back seat of a 2007 Nissan Frontier pickup with an extended cab shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.
The truck went off the road, overturned numerous times and landed wheels up in a ravine about 300 feet down, authorities said.
The crash occurred during a heavy downpour and the M.E.'s office in San Diego stated the rain could have played a part in the crash.
An autopsy was underway Wednesday, the M.E.'s office reported.
