Temecula Woman Wakes Up to Man Stabbing Her, Police Say

The woman "...realized she had been attacked after she observed blood on her clothing," police said.

A male suspect was in custody Friday on suspicion of attempted murder after attacking someone with a knife in a Temecula residence, authorities said.

The female victim was sleeping on a couch at a residence on the 30600 block of Milky Way when the suspect stabbed her around 2:50 a.m. Thursday, Temecula police Sgt. Jon Wade said.

"The investigation revealed that a lone male assailant entered the residence while the victim was asleep on a couch in the residence," Wade said in a press statement.  "The victim reported she woke up after feeling a sharp pain and observed the suspect flee from the residence on foot."
