Transient Suspected in Theft From Old Town Front Street Business

Officers from the Problem Oriented Policing Team saw the suspect enter a business on Old Town Front Street in Temecula and steal items.

Temecula police officers conducting surveillance on Old Town Front Street observed a known transient enter a business and steal items early Tuesday morning, according to police. The suspect was arrested as he left the building in the 28400 block of Old Town Front Street.

Mark LeSean Navarro, 47, was arrested just after 3 a.m. by officers assigned to the Problem Oriented Policing Team that were watching businesses in the area in response to several thefts that have been reported on Old Town Front Street, according to Sgt. Chris Gaskins.

The name of the business and the items Navarro allegedly tried to steal were nor released by police.

Navarro was booked into the Southwest Detention Center for second-degree burglary, petty theft with priors, and violation of probation, all felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. According to jail records, Navarro was arrested last month for misdemeanor resisting a public officer near Tower Plaza.

Navarro is being held at the Southwest Detention Center on $25,000 bail.
