Two Face Charges of Mugging Man Sitting in Car

The victim was waiting for a friend when he was attacked and robbed.

Two men faced charges today of robbing a man while he sat in his parked car.

Joshua Moon, 21, and Bradley Mrkvicka, 22, both Temecula residents, were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony robbery, according to jail records. Mrkvicka was also arrested Jan. 13 on suspicion of grand theft and burglary in an unrelated incident and released on $10,000 bail.

Moon was behind bars today without bail and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. Mrkvicka was released – again – on $25,000 bail.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Wells Fargo bank, 27630 Ynez Rd., according to sheriff’s Sgt. Keith Knotek.

The victim was waiting in his car while a friend took care of some business in the bank when two men yanked his door open and told him to hand over his wallet, the victim told investigators.

He refused, so one of the men started punching him repeatedly in the face. Then they took the wallet out of his pocket and drove away on Ynez Road in a silver Lexus.

A witness caught part of the license plate number and within nine minutes of getting the call, deputies found a silver Lexus with a license plate matching that number. The two men matched the description witnesses gave, so a deputy stopped the suspects at Meadows and Temecula parkways, the sergeant wrote in an arrest report.

The suspects were arrested, identified by witnesses and booked into the Southwest Detention Center. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment for minor injuries to his face, Knotek said.

The Sheriff’s Department asked anybody with information on this incident to call 951-696-3000.
