Update: Boy Hurt in Cave-in Brain-dead

The sheriff's department reported his death, but parents are reporting he's still alive on their website.

A boy who was hurt in a cave-in is still alive, contrary to earlier reports, according to the boy's parents.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported Anthony Fowler, 11, died on Monday. The parents said via their website it's not true.

"We recently learned that there was some wrong information reported in the paper about Anthony passing on Monday. He has not passed yet," the website reads. "We have had some very hard decisions to make, and continue to make as a family. We will keep you updated."

A blog dated today and signed by his parents states Anthony was declared braindead today.

"What little of his brain there was working when he arrived here 11 days ago is no longer working. His physical body is slowly shutting down," it reads.

Anthony was buried from head to ankles in dirt when a makeshift tunnel he and a friend were digging caved in on him. To read what happened, click here.
