Update: Stabbing Suspect at Large

A man who allegedly sneaked up behind a woman, choked her and stabbed her before running away, was on the loose today.

A man who stabbed a woman in the neck in French Valley was on the loose today.

The suspect allegedly sneaked up behind the 47-year-old victim at 10:01 a.m. as she walked her dog on Auld Road just east of Pourroy Road.

He first choked her, then he stabbed her in the neck and ran away into an open field to the south, said sheriff's Sgt. Angel Ramos.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man 5-foot-11 inches tall wearing dark sweat pants and a gray sweater with the hood pulled tight around his face.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and treated for superficial injuries. She was released a short time later, according to the sergeant.

"She'll be alright," Ramos said.

Several nearby schools were put on lockdown while police searched the area. The Murrieta PD brought in a bloodhound, though the search still turned up nothing, according to Ramos.
