UPDATE: Driver Survives 50-Foot Plunge
A pickup crashes off a road and down a 50-foot embankment into a canyon.
A driver who plunged his truck off a road and down a 50-foot embankment was rushed to a hospital today.
A passerby reported a truck crashing off the road around 1:31 p.m. on Rancho California Road just west of Ridge Park Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The male driver was found unconscious but breathing, according to a CHP dispatcher.

The driver was rushed to a hospital with minor injuries, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.
Three fire engines, a truck company and 15 firefighters conducted a "rope rescue," and by 3 p.m., the truck was retrieved, according to Hagemann.
