A two-vehicle, head-on crash in Anza seriously injured three people today.
The crash was reported at 3:37 p.m. on Highway 79 South between Anza and Los Caballos roads, Cal Fire reported.
At least one person had to be cut out of a vehicle, one of which was an SUV with a crushed front end. That vehicle was towed from the scene as motorists watched.
All three patients were taken to area hospitals by ambulance, Cal Fire reported.
Traffic on 79 was diverted northbound at Anza Road for at least an hour, while some motorists just parked their vehicles on the side of the road, waiting for it to reopen.
A condition report on the injured persons was not available Thursday evening.
