A Mexican national who was allegedly trying to hide more than $830,000 in his vehicle's dashboard is now facing smuggling charges, after a recent seizure by local Border Patrol agents.
It happened July 1, when the man was stopped around 2 p.m. by agents patrolling Interstate 15 near Temecula, according to Mary Beth Caston with the U.S. Border Patrol Information & Communication Division.
When the 54-year-old man "was unable to answer routine questions consistently," a K-9 was brought over to sniff the vehicle, ultimately alerting agents that something was not right, according to Caston.   The 2010 Dodge Journey SUV was then escorted over to the I-15 checkpoint.
"At the checkpoint, agents put the vehicle on a lift and discovered a hidden compartment behind the dashboard," she said.  "The compartment contained 61 bundles of cash."

Those 61 bundles contained a total of $830,060 in cash, according to Caston.

"The man was arrested and charged with bulk cash smuggling," she said.  "Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of the suspect and the money."
Border Patrol officials seized the vehicle.

a rogue deputy sheriff in a nearby state has routinely been stopping cars and searching for drugs and money, and if he finds much money and no drugs he still insists it must be drug money and takes it and makes the driver sign away the money to him else he will also take their car and put them in jail. This has been going on for several years. Local attorneys would not take the cases. ......... He took all the cash hat a low income family had been saving for years to get a better used car as they drove thru his area on their way to a large city to buy the car. ........ He took thousands of dollars from the pastor and two church elders that were heading to the city to bid on church property from another city that was being sold at public auction. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FINALLY after getting away with this for years he has been charged in FEDERAL court. If anyone doubts this story ask me and i will look up the town and names involved, then Google it your self.

How stupid does someone have to be to get caught at that checkpoint? When 79S, Pala Rd, and the road thru De Luz are all open..Shouldn't the Border Patrol patrol our Nations Borders, and NOT County Lines???
