Winchester Crash Sends 2 to Hospital

A person became trapped in wreckage Wednesday morning when two vehicles collided in Winchester, a fire official reported.

“Firefighters responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles with one person trapped,” Annas wrote in a report.

Crews performed a cut-and-rescue maneuver to free the trapped person, who was transported to an area hospital with moderate to major injuries, the spokesman reported.

Another person was also transported with similarly-described injuries. Both were taken via ground ambulances.

According to California Highway Patrol, the vehicles involved were described as a Toyota pickup truck and a Toyota sedan.

A county hazardous materials team responded to the crash site.

The roadway was cleared by about 8:29 a.m., CHP reported.
