Woman Accused of Habitual Reckless Driving

Officers spotted the suspect speeding through the neighborhood at more than 50 mph. "There were kids and parents walking on both sides of the street at the time, as well as a bicyclist," a sheriff's official says.

A Temecula woman was arrested on suspicion of habitually driving 50 mph through a 25 mph zone with children present.

Gina Caseres was arrested Friday on Corte Almeria at Corte Ballantine, and her white Nissan sedan was impounded for 30 days, according to sheriff's Sgt. Mark Leggett.

Numerous complaints the Temecula Police Department got starting in August prompted the arrest, the sergeant said in an announcement.

"The (department) has been receiving periodic complaints from citizens living on Corte Almeria in Temecula regarding one of their neighbor's unsafe driving habits," he said. "In each complaint was detailed information regarding the vehicle, license plate and physical description of the female driver and expected times of occurrence."

Officers staked out the area described in the phone calls around 8 a.m. Friday morning and spotted Caseres speeding through the neighborhood at more than 50 mph, blatantly disregarding the safety of the public, Leggett said.
