A woman allegedly made off with an undisclosed amount of cash Tuesday afternoon when she robbed a U.S. Bank branch in unincorporated Murrieta, according to a sheriff's official.

The robbery was reported at about 2 p.m. at U.S. Bank inside Alberston's, 39140 Winchester Road, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Steve Fredericks.

"At about 2 p.m. we had a Hispanic female adult show up at the U.S. Bank inside the Albertson's shopping center; she presented a demand note for cash, implying she had a firearm—a gun—inside her purse," Fredericks told Patch.

The woman then walked out of the store with money in hand, the sergeant said.

It was not known if she left in a vehicle, or what type of vehicle it might have been, he said.

Detectives with the Southwest Sheriff's Station were investigating the robbery and were working some leads, but as of 5 p.m. the suspect remained outstanding, Fredericks told Patch.

The branch was closed while an investigation was conducted, but Fredericks said Albertson's remained open.

The FBI was also contacted because a bank robbery is a federal crime, he said.

Dang whats the deal with women robbing banks? Surprised this one was so far from the freeway. She got away with it so far too. Cameras inside, outside in parking lot of Albertson's center and I hope they got pictures of her. We gotta work for our money like everyone else. :/ Even though 1 in 4 families still live below poverty level in the USA. The USA, and that should be the biggest question, problem that the USA government fixes. How dare they sit behind desks in AC with their 10 Chefs preparing their perfect lunch? Dinner? Snack? When will we be lucky enough to get past noodles in a jar with some marinara tossed in for dinner? Middle class might have some sausage and salad to go with that. Are these Women robbing because they NEED it for food, rent, or are they doing it for drugs or the fun of it? "Patch" stick to this article and the other one of the Lady who robbed and got caught after rolling the car, with two others in it with her. Let us know what their defense is, err as to why they were robbing a bank?

This is NOT French Valley! It's Murrieta.

If it had happened in Murrieta, Murrieta's surely would have nabbed her ass. RSO average ETA extended due to response distance.

It has a Murrieta address, but it is unincorporated, part of Riverside County serviced by the Sheriff's department.
