560 Acres Along Jefferson Avenue Up For Discussion

On Aug. 1, a 6 p.m. public hearing is scheduled at Temecula City Hall to discuss long-range planning of approximately 560 acres along Jefferson Avenue, between Cherry Street and Rancho California Road.

, eight recommendations for the acreage known as the “Jefferson Avenue Study Area” surfaced. All eight will be considered during Wednesday’s hearing that is part of the regularly scheduled Temecula Planning Commission meeting.

Among other things, the recommendations call for expanding the mix of uses in the area, increasing development, defining districts and neighborhoods, improving transportation and infrastructure, and generating investment in trails and open space. The recommendations will be considered as the foundation for a future Specific Plan for the area.

If the Planning Commission decides to recommend that City Council move forward on a Specific Plan for the Jefferson Avenue Study Area, an environmental review will be completed during the process.
