Anti-Quarry Message Erected on Billboard

SOS-Hills pasted a message on a Temecula billboard urging residents to attend two upcoming meetings on the planned Liberty Quarry.

 

An anti-quarry group put up a billboard for the second time urging the reader to attend upcoming meetings on .

The billboard is visible going north on Interstate 15 just north of the Santiago Road overpass. It gives the date and location for the upcoming meetings and a website for more information.

SOS-Hills, a volunteer group opposing the quarry, created and paid for the sign.
Organizers hope the sign will get people to "either get on the bus or drive up to the Convention Center to attend those hearings," said Mariann Byers, an SOS-Hills member.

The more people in the audience who oppose the quarry, the greater the chance will be that the supervisors will reject the plan, Byers said.

"We heard the Planning Commission say it themselves, there's nothing like presiding over an audience to concentrate the mind."
