'Assign a Reporter' Winner Chosen

The winner of the contest assigns a Temecula Patch reporter to find out why the traffic lights at Rancho California and Ynez roads are so poorly timed.

The winner of Temecula Patch's "Assign a Reporter" contest told us to investigate a dangerous intersection.

Canli Mertz, of Temecula, assigned us to find out why the traffic signals on Rancho California and Ynez roads are so poorly timed.

"I have sat and watched the cycles of these lights go from letting two cars through to letting 20 cars through on the third cycle," she wrote in an email. "And why does the light go from green to red so quickly without yellow having at least five seconds to be on?"
