With challenges and social issues being faced by many Temecula youth and families today—and in light of the recent tragedy in Connecticut—city officials announced the launch of free educational series for parents and caregivers of youth with special needs.
"The City of Temecula serves a diverse group of youth in the community which are comprised of foster youth, at-risk youth, military, underserved, special needs and the mental health consumer," city officials stated, in a news release. "The City of Temecula is constantly finding new ways to promote the well-being and empowerment of youth and parents."
Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 16, the City, in collaboration with Temecula-based Novell & Novell Counseling Services, present the first session of the educational series.
The series is designed to provide information, strategies and techniques that support the entire family, according to the news release. Parents are invited to join other parents to learn, ask questions and share their experiences. Classes are taught by licensed and trained professionals.
"This educational series is just one of the many programs and services being provided by the City that we hope families will take advantage of," said Temecula Mayor Mike Naggar.
All classes are at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Conference Center at 41000 Main St.:

March 20—Transitioning to Teen and Adulthood; Class #2420.103;
April 17—Raising Children in Difficult Times; Class #2420.104
