City to Finalize Liquor Store Ban

The city voted last month to bar any new liquor stores in the city, and one liquor store owner is threatening to sue.

The city is scheduled to finalize a ban on new liquor stores.

The Temecula is scheduled to meet tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the to vote on an ordinance that will stop the city from granting anymore hard liquor licenses.

The ordinance was spurred by an application submitted more than a year ago.

They applied for a license to sell distilled spirits, which caused the City Council to approve an on these licenses.

They voted to last month, a move that was called discriminatory by the owners of Stop Quick.

One owner threatened to sue the city if the council votes to finalize this ban.

I moved to Temecula because of the fresher and cleaner appearance of the communities and the lack of liquor stores on every corner. There are still plenty of stores to purchase hard liquor (grocery stores). No one's rights are being violated and perhaps it will impact under age drinking by teens. Lauren

KIM; Wouldnt you rather have hard liquor and "porn mags at eye level" as you put it, in a liquor store where you have a choice to walk into or not, NOT in the grocery stores like Trader Joes, Vons or Winco that you shop with your children in. This makes no sense. We need to quit trying to control and let people live there lives and do business if they want. Whats next prohibition? Mandatory Health care? oh wait

The liquor store is already there! They sell beer and wine and want to add hard liquor. I really dont understand this.

The liquor store is already there people! They sell beer and wine. This will not impact underage drinking, did prohibition stop production of alcohol? I think his rights are being violated. How do you let some liquor stores sell and not others? I love this town too, but I cant stand people driven by naive perceptions and religion trying to control and convince the rest. Live and let live..it would be a happier place :)
