County's Rising Latino Population Prompts Need For Bilingual Poll Workers

As the county’s Latino population grows, so does the demand for bilingual assistance at the polls.

The following is a news release from the Riverside County Registrar of Voters:

Bilingual poll workers are needed at voting locations throughout Riverside County for the Nov. 6 presidential general election. As the county’s Latino population grows, so does the demand for bilingual assistance at the polls. Poll workers must attend a special two-and-a-half hour training class to familiarize themselves with election procedures and to prepare them to assist voters after the polls open at 7 a.m. on Election Day.

No experience is required and training will be provided by the Registrar of Voters office. Poll workers, who must be U.S. citizens and be registered to vote, earn up to $125 as precinct inspectors or $90 as precinct officers. Workers in both posts also receive $20 for attending the training class.

Anyone who wishes to participate in this important process should call the Registrar of Voters office at (951) 486-7341 or (877) 663-9906.

America was founded by Eskimos. But I bet the same people who think they are true Americans believe that Columbus really found the US. And I bet they even celebrate Columbus Day. Educate yourselfs people. . IF your willing to dedicate to a rapist, murder, theif then go ahead be my guest. There's plenty more Rapist in the world you can dedicate a day too.. Why not make a Jerry Sandusky day, Columbus raped women and killed childeren but most Americans beg to take the day off bc god forbid they work on his day. Hope you all had fun celebrating a rapist:)

Mr RC, you miss the point. The ability to read and write English is supposed to be a requirement for citizenship. If people can't communicate in English, they can't follow the candidates/issues and make informed decisions. Or is that what you're really hoping for?

is that really the best you can do? Grow up.

Ever think people take Columbus Day off, because they just want a day off?
