Ground Breaks on French Valley Interchange

Officials from Temecula and Murrieta moved the first shovels of dirt on a project aiming to improve traffic flow.

Officials from Temecula and Murrieta broke ground during a ceremony today on the French Valley Interchange, a project that aims to improve traffic flow on Interstate 15.

The $200 million project has two stages. The first starts just over the city limit in Murrieta. It's projected to take 18 months to finish and will install an exit on the freeway north of Winchester Road.

The second leg is projected to take 2 1/2 years to finish and is slated to extend French Valley Parkway over the freeway and add an additional lane on the northbound side.
