Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for Jackson-Ynez Connector Bridge
A groundbreaking ceremony is set for Sept. 16 near the site of the four-lane bridge that will connect the cities of Murrieta and Temecula.
Officials with the cities of Murrieta and Temecula are scheduled to celebrate the start of construction on the Jackson Avenue Warm Springs Bridge.
Murrieta Mayor Rick Gibbs, Temecula Mayor Mike Naggar and other officials are expected to be at the project site for a groundbreaking ceremony planned for 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 16.
Once completed, the long-anticipated project just east of and parallel to Interstate 15 will connect the two cities at Jackson Avenue and Ynez Road.

The City of Murrieta is the lead agency on the project, having awarded a $5.12-million contract on July 16 to Riverside-based AlAbassi Construction and Engineering.
The bridge will be four lanes. The project also includes the removal and replacement of Jackson Avenue pavement from Sam’s Club south to the bridge.

Construction began Sept. 3 and should take nine months to complete, City of Murrieta Associate Civil Engineer Jeff Hitch told Patch.
