Housing Slated for De Portola Road

A project including condos and apartments planned for De Portola Road and Meadows Parkway is up for a vote on Wednesday night.

Officials are scheduled to vote on a plan to build condominiums and apartments in a lot in southeastern Temecula.

The is set to consider the plan at a 6 p.m. meeting at the on Wednesday.

The plan includes 288 apartments and 186 condominiums, according to a staff report.

We have a glut of housing in Temecula already. Why is the city allowing even MORE building? Is is greed for the fees and taxes paid by developers that is shading their lack of decision making? Probably so.

Hi Maggie. If I understand the latest stats, housing inventory is shrinking and prices are stabilizing... which explains why a developer is willing to risk building homes to grow his business and turn a profit. As to why the City approved these projects, I don't know. (Though I'm not implying it was for greed.)

A property owner has the right to develop their property in accordance with City zoning/development ordinances. Having said that, I hate high density projects in an already crowded area. The only way to control this is to have the zoning changed to low density. Let your council know that you do not want properties rezoned high density.
