Incumbents Get Local CDF Vote in Council Race

Temecula Mayor Chuck Washington and City Councilman Mike Naggar have both garnered city council race endorsements from the California Department of Forestry Firefighters Riverside Chapter.

The current mayor of Temecula and the mayor pro-tem -- both of them are running for reelection -- have garnered a local firefighter agency's endorsement.

"On behalf of the CDF Firefighters Riverside Chapter, we would like to inform you officially of our endorsement of your candidacy for the Temecula City council," reads a letter sent to incumbent Mayor Chuck Washington and City Councilman Mike Naggar.

"Your unyielding commitment to public and firefighters [sic] safety has made our decision to endorse you an easy one," the letter continued.

According to the endorsement letter, the CDF Firefighters Riverside Chapter represents more than 1,000 Firefighters within Riverside County.

"As Riverside County’s Fire Protection, our members will respond to
more than 130,000 emergencies this year. CDF Firefighters Riverside Chapter also protects several cities within Riverside County," the letter states.

"We hope our endorsement for your candidacy will assist you, and more importantly, the Temecula voters ... on Election Day."

SHOCKING!!!!! The local firefighters union is backing the incumbents.....There was a time when I trusted the police and firefighters union endorsements. That was until I worked in the public sector for 10 years and saw the games that are played for those endordements. Hold your wallet Temecula residents, the backroom deals made by the incumbents for that endorsment, you are going to be paying for. This is the very type of politics we dont need in our town. We get enough of this on the State and Federal level. As far as AB 32 goes, we need to vote YES and get the union money out of politics and elections. This money goes directly to politicians who take this money win elections and in return payback the unions with our tax dollars in increased pay, benefits and pensions. We need to stop this silliness and allow the peoples voices to be heard again.

tom you are so right. FDR (or franklin D. Roosevelt, for our graduating high schoolers; yes he was a president; during WWII; that was between WWI and the Korean War; nevermind) warned against unionized government in 1937. the warnings were ignored and Kennedy became the catalyst to instal unions in government and the payoffs began. see this web for more information: http://www2.hernandotoday.com/news/hernando-news/2010/oct/17/ha-fdrs-warning-public-employee-unions-a-no-no-ar-291004/ yes on 32, please. and yes, new blood in the city council who aren't so cozy with the unions.

An endorsement by ANY public employee union for a politician definitely means DO NOT VOTE FOR THAT POLITICIAN. In this case, DO NOT VOTE FOR WASHINGTON/NAGGAR unless you like living in a bankrupt city. The public employee union owns them and will bankrupt everything in the beholden politicians path.

Yes on 32!! Stop these out of control Public Employee Unions!!
