Main Steet Bridge in Old Town Temecula Set for Demolition, Closure

The detour route for motorists and pedestrians is by way of the First Street bridge to the south.

The city of Temecula is preparing to close its Main Street bridge for up to one year for demolition and replacement of the bridge.

The closure—between Pujol and Old Town Front streets—is expected to begin this month and depending on weather conditions, will last for nine to 12 months, according to an advisory posted on the city's website.

All businesses and residences along Main Street on the east side of Murrieta Creek, including the Children’s Museum and Community Theater, will remain accessible, as will entry to all Main Street residences on the west side of the creek.

Ninety percent of the $4.7-million project—approved by City Council in January— is being funded by a federal grant, according to city officials.
