Protest to Target Supervisor Tavaglione

Anti-quarry activists plan to show their opposition to the county supervisor they say "flip-flopped" on the Liberty Quarry issue.

"Join us… to say that we will not tolerate the two-faced actions of Supervisor Tavaglione when he 'flip-flopped' to vote with Benoit and Ashley to certify the same flawed, incomplete EIR that was used to deny the quarry project originally," said Jerri Arganda, a member of SOS-Hills, in an emailed announcement.

Opponents of Liberty Quarry were shocked and angered when the voted to certify an EIR, or environmental impact report, that acted as the foundation for the quarry plan.

The board then voted to confirm , but certifying the document all but assures the applicant, Granite Construction, will have its project approved if it reapplies, critics said.

Supervisors voted 3-2 against the quarry plan, but one of those who voted to reject it, John Tavaglione, voted yes to certifying the EIR.
