Quarry Meeting Tomorrow

Granite Construction is expected to lay out its case for Liberty Quarry for the county Board of Supervisors tomorrow.

The are slated tomorrow to hold their final public hearing on a proposed strip mine near Temecula that opponents contend will pose a health hazard and ruin the area's rustic features, while supporters say the project will boost the local economy.

Critics of the 414-acre Liberty Quarry dominated the last two hearings, but during tomorrow's meeting at 9 a.m. at the representatives from Watsonville-based Granite Construction, the quarry owner, will have an opportunity to rebut some of the previous testimony.
