Sports Complex in Wine Country Up for Appeal

The plan calls to transform 65 acres of the equestrian center into multi-use sports fields.

A 65-acre sports complex approved for Wine Country is slated for an appeal hearing.

The County Board of Supervisors will hold a meeting on Oct. 4 at the County Administrative Center, 4080 Lemon St. in Riverside to discuss a plan to build the parks at , an equestrian center east of Temecula.

Some residents spoke out against the sports complex because they believed it would change the rural nature of the area during a County Planning Commission meeting in June.

Opening the sports complex will help the facility whether the bad economy without having to build a tract of homes on the unused land, a spokesperson for Galway Downs said.
