Temecula Election Central 2012: Local Races

Here's a rundown of the local races and a ballot measure affecting Temecula voters that Temecula Patch will follow throughout the night.

Updated at 8:20 a.m. Nov. 7 with registrar's results as of 7:33 a.m.:

The latest updated Riverside County elections results were posted just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

"Election Night vote counting is complete, but results are not final. Information regarding provisional, vote-by-mail, and damaged ballots that require duplication and remain to be counted will be posted shortly," the registrar's office said via its Facebook page.

42nd Congressional District

Candidates:

Rep. Ken Calvert (R) - incumbent 61.36 percent

Michael Williamson (D) 38.64 percent

Candidates:

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R) - incumbent 68.21 percent

David Secor (D) 31.79 percent

71st State Assembly District 

Candidates:

Patrick Hurley (D) 35.52 percent

Brian Jones (R) 64.48 percent

Candidates:

Matthew Herold (D) 34.95 percent

Candidates:

Bob Buster - incumbent 49.44 percent

Kevin Jeffries 50.56 percent

Candidates:

Paul Jacobs 7.08 percent

Patrice Lynes 10.61 percent

Mike Naggar - incumbent 32.06 percent

Chuck Washington - incumbent  35.40 percent

Mt. San Jacinto Community College Board of Trustees, Area 5

Tom Ashley 65.35 percent

Guy Romero 34.65 percent

Temecula’s Measure Y

YES: 63.03 percent

NO: 36.97 percent

The following is the final language of Measure Y. Voters were asked to vote Yes or No to show their support for or against:

“To maintain the quality of education in local schools and to provide facilities and equipment for career and technical education classes in health, science, technology andthe trades, to upgrade classrooms, science labs and computers to keep pace with technology, improve student safety and security, shall Temecula Valley Unified School District be authorized to issue $165 million in bonds and appoint a fiscal oversight committee with annual audits to ensure that bond funds are spent to benefit local children?”
