Temecula Considers Selling Land Slated for Waterpark

City is considering the sale of land previously approved for a water park in the northwest portion of Temecula.

The City of Temecula is entertaining offers on land previously approved to be the site of a water park in northwest Temecula.

At a recent city council meeting, the city and it's soon-to-be disbanded redevelopment agency met in closed session to consider the sale of 30 saces of land at Dendy Parkway and Diaz Road to a company called Agua Caliente, Inc.

The city has also sent a request for proposals to other parties interested in developing the site, which is being marketed as land zoned for a water park.

Earlier this month, the city re-approved plans for a 17-acre water park, called "Temecula Splash Canyon," that had been submitted in 2009 by Clearwater Waterpark Development.

The original plans had recieved council approval, but that approval expired last summer.

When plans were annouced, the city redevelopment agency was prepared to sell the property to Clearwater for $6.7 million, but the deal was never finalized.

Clearwater officials told The Californian that they are still interested in a Temecula site for the park.
