Temecula Mayor Mike Naggar will be recognized for support he has given to parks and recreation in the community.

Temecula Mayor Mike Naggar is being honored by the California Park & Recreation Society as a 2012 Champion of the Community, it has been announced.

City staff received news of the award Friday in an email from CPRS Executive Director Jane H. Adams.

Mayor Washington is the Mayor and has been since I've been in Temecula. He was just re-elected. Why would this man be taking credit for the accomplishments of someone else?? Where is Mayor Washington??

You now have those same cro-magnons contracted to working in the heart of the city of Temecula on a bridge?? At every turn we are being ripped off and abused. Where is Mayor Washington? He was just re-elected wasn't he?

In a world where Obama is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, nothing surprises me.

Washington and Naggar are city council members. Our town has a city manager so the city council decides which city council member will be Mayor for the Year. Washington had his turn last year. As for this award, The California Park and recreation Society is nothing but a "club" for politicans who belive in "eminent domain" (taking your property for parks) and higher taxes for everyone in California. This society is a PAC (political action committee" that fights for more regulations on homeowners and taxpayers. Here is a link to some of their currnent legislation. http://69.63.152.146/user_media/pdfs/legwatchlist.pdf

Congratulations Mike! As the election results showed, lots of us appreciate the great things you have done for our city, including making Temecula the leader in taking care of citizens with special needs.

The internet is fueled by hate (and pictures of cats). I think they're just feeding the beast.

Congratulations Mike!!! Well deserved!

As long as you believe in far left liberalism then Mike Is Perfect!! As long as you believe 100% in Man Made Nancy Pelosi San Francisco style Global Warming then Naggar is your guy!!

Mayor Naggar takes Tens of Thousands of Dollars from Calvary Church to "represent" them? Why take their money? You are not a lawyer! He represents Calvary while at the same time being on the boards of WRCOG and MHSCP that are stopping the church from building. Double standard? Nope. Just business as usual in a cool aide drinking Temecula.

Fortunately we live in a democracy and it is clear that the vast majority of Temecula citizens supports and appreciates our city government. Also fortunately, there are forums that allow minority opinions to be voiced.

I'm pretty sure all the members of the Temecula City Council are Republicans.
SPB January 28, 2013 at 09:41 PM
I think you may need to re-assess where you place those liberal - conservative hash marks. The council strikes me as primarily moderate Conservative.

Funny how so many of the people who post here are so ignorant, yet so passionate about that which they are wrong about.
Jerry Simeon January 29, 2013 at 05:08 AM
I'm an idiot who believes elections decide the leaders... not the employees of the city.
Jerry Simeon January 29, 2013 at 05:10 AM
REPEAT: Elections?? I voted Washington for Mayor... not his side kick. Why have an illegal election if this sort of trickery is involved? Where is Mayor Washington?? Elections decide the leaders... not the employees of the city.
Fauntleroy Murphy January 29, 2013 at 06:21 PM
The only comment I have is for Jerry Simeon. YOU DID NOT vote for Washington for Mayor! You vote for city council members. The position of Mayor is not voted on by citizens, they are voted in solely by other members of the city council. The Mayor is the spokes-hole for the City for 1 year. They have no more power to do anything more than any other council member. Since Mike Naggar was voted in as this years' Mayor it appears his shoulders are shrinking rapidly.
Jerry Simeon January 30, 2013 at 12:14 AM
I stand corrected. You are right. I reviewed the election results and adjusted my thinking. As you see, I am not reluctant to stand behind my votes and support of candidates or issues. As I said though, as long as I've been in Temecula, Washington has been Mayor. When I shook his hand and congratulated him for winning re-election, he said nothing. Where is Chuck Washington?
