Temecula Weathers Unemployment Storm

Temecula fell below the county average unemployment rate in January with 9.8 percent (not seasonally adjusted).

The job market went easy on Temecula, according to a recent report.

Though the Inland Empire has the highest unemployment rates in the country, Temeucla's rate is much better than the rest of the county.

In some cities with populations higher than 1 million, the unemployment rate was 14.2 percent in January, according to a report by the Labor Department issued March 18.

The second highest was Las Vegas, with 13.7 percent unemployment.

In January, the neighboring cities of Canyon Lake, Murrieta, Lake Elsinore and Wildomar also saw unemployment rates below the county average, with 8.9 percent, 9.5 percent, 13.9 percent, and 12.6 percent, respectively, not seasonally adjusted.

Cities with the lowest unemployment across Riverside County include the desert cites of Indian Wells at 5.1 percent, Bermuda Dunes at 6.7 percent, and La Quinta at 7.6 percent, respectively without seasonal adjustment.

The Riverside County city with the highest non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in January was Cabazon, with 33.8 percent.
