Veterans Day Ceremony Planned in Temecula

Members of the U.S. Armed Forces will be honored during a ceremony that begins at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Temecula Civic Center.

The city of Temecula invites the community to gather Sunday, Nov. 11 for a Veterans Day Ceremony.

Members of all Military branches will be honored during the ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. at the Temecula Civic Center, 41000 Main St. The Temecula Valley Young Marines will present the colors, city officials will give their remarks, and "Taps" will be performed by Great Oak High School trumpeter Garrett Sanders.

"I have wanted the city to organize an event to honor our nation’s heroes and am looking forward to acknowledging the brave men and women protecting our freedoms," said Temecula Mayor Chuck Washington, in a news release.

The ceremony will also serve as the official unveiling of the city’s Military Banner Program, the first of which will be displayed in the Civic Center Quad on Veterans Day, according to the news release.

"I am very pleased that the city has created this special military banner program," said Temecula City Councilman Jeff Comerchero, who also serves as the president of Temecula Community Services District.

"To know that we can help Temecula families as they honor these brave men and women is indeed gratifying. The banners themselves are a beautiful addition to our roadscapes and the program should be a source of pride for us all," Comerchero said.

The city wil serve light refreshments at the conclusion of the event.
