Vote-by-Mail Ballots Deadline Looms

The deadline is approaching for Temecula residents to vote for candidates for the Rancho California Water District.

The deadline to vote by mail is nearing for Temecula residents for the Rancho California Water District election.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by 8 p.m. Tuesday by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters.

The election is being conducted by mail only -- no polling places will be opened.

About 62,000 ballots were sent out Aug. 1 for voters in the water district and the Idyllwild Fire Protection District.

Ballots must be sent via the postal service or deposited in the 24-hour drop box outside the registrars office at 2724 Gateway Dr. in Riverside.

Three incumbents are up for reelection. The current board president, Lawrence M. Libeu, was elected in 2007.

Roland C. Skumawitz was appointed to the board in December 2010 to fill the remaining year of a four-year term vacated by an elected member.

Lisa D. Herman was elected in September 1991 to fill the remaining two years of a four-year term vacated by another member.
