Roundabout Construction Cancelled

They cost more than the county wanted to spend, a report states.

Building a roundabout in Wine Country was put on hold due to the unexpectedly high cost.

The Board of Supervisors declined to accept bids Tuesday ranging from $1.6 million to $3 million to build a roundabout on Rancho California and Anza roads.

The project will be put out for a bid for the second time this month, but scaled down to bring the cost down, Transportation Director Juan Perez wrote in a report.

The new project will lack a pedestrian and horse trail and include much of the landscaping the first version of the project includes.

If a bid is accepted, the project should begin in January, according to Perez.
