Some teachers were expected to get a pink slip if approved by officials this Tuesday.
The Temecula Valley Unified School District Board of Supervisors are scheduled to vote on whether to lay off 120 techers, according to school documents.
More budget cuts coming from the state is the cause of the cuts, according to Melanie Norton, a spokesperson for the district.
"It's due to the governor's budget proposal released last month," she said via email.
The amount of money the district will save has yet to be determined, according to school documents.
Positions being eliminated include 86 elementary school teachers, 10 middle school teachers, four high school teachers, five counselors, seven special education teachers and eight teachers on special assignment, according to a district document.
