First let me say that I think this is a great event! Thank you for putting it on. I would like to know if it costs to make the bowls. If it does, why not have the bowls and front the money it takes to make them for this program? Take the money it costs for the soup (whether canned or home made it cost money to make), and front it too. That is even more money for the program. Lastly, simply ask the public for donations to support. I like the idea of only asking for $10.00 because it is a small amount and generally we will donate more than that. If people just have to have something and you just have to serve soup, why not bring our own bowls? This way we still save on not having the bowls made. We can also donate our bowl that we bring and they can then go to those in need. Just brainstorming here.

Everything for this event was donated. The clay for the bowls that the students made, all the soup from local restaurants, water & bread. This is a wonderful event to be a part of. Please come by and buy a bowl!

I'm with you Jill. I went tonight with my wife. We made a donation but didn't want to get the bowl or the soup. We had that planned before going. Once we arrived, my wife then wanted to eat!! Funny how that happens. We stuck with our plan. It was to allow others to purchase the bowl and the meal thus providing more money for the fund raiser. We spoke with the Ceramics Instructor and we hope they do this next year too. If it goes on next year, we pledge a $1000.00 donation! BK
