Teen Injury-Prevention Expo

Inland Valley Medical Center, in collaboration with the City of Temecula, Temecula Valley Unified School District, local emergency medical services, and area public service agencies, will sponsor the 2012 Teen Injury Prevention Expo of Southwest Riverside County on Saturday, April 21, from 11 AM to 3 PM, at Chaparral High School in Temecula.  Designed primarily for youth ages 13-19, the expo features interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and presentations to help teens and their parents learn how to avoid preventable injuries. The expo will be held rain or shine, and is free to the public.  As an added incentive, the first 400 teens who attend will receive a free lunch.

Teens can tour an ambulance and fire engine and watch firefighters simulate how crash victim extrication is done. Teens also can scale a 25-foot rock climbing wall provided by California Emergency Physicians and watch a professional BMX race team perform courtesy of Southwest Healthcare System.
Also scheduled are the City of Temecula Fire Department, American Medical Response, Mercy Air, and California Highway Patrol (CHP). Nurses, doctors, surgeons, sports medicine experts, and representatives from the judicial system and the Department of Motor Vehicles will share what they see on a daily basis and explain how life-changing one poor decision can be.
