Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month

From the website:

Each month, beginning in September, a young man and a young lady are selected from each of the local high schools to receive the honor of being named the Chamber of Commerce High School Student of the Month. They are selected by members of the high school faculty for their success in academics, high school involvement, or perhaps they have picked themselves up and changed their life outlook, charting a new successful life course.

The Students of the Month and their families are invited to a breakfast or luncheon held in their honor at Sizzler
Restaurant. The meal is provided by our wonderful sponsors at no charge to any of the invited guests. In addition to family members, the event is also attended by school principals, the nominating teachers, local elected officials or their representatives, generous business sponsors, and local media.

At the event, we hear from the elected officials, who congratulate the students and present official certificates from the Chamber, City, Congress, State, Assembly, and County. The students and their family members also take a few moments to share their journey to being selected for this distinguished honor. The students also receive gifts donated by local businesses.

In May, a judging committee selects the Student of the Year. The criteria to be selected Student of the Year is the
student must be a senior, he or she must have been a Student of the Month in the current calendar year, and they must be college bound. In addition to receiving exciting gifts, plagues, and much more, the Students of the Year will receive a generous scholarship to be used for books or tuition at his or her chosen college. Our scholarship sponsors have the privilege of presenting the scholarship directly to the student at the Student of the Year event.

The Student of the Month, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding student achievement.
