Temecula Valley High School freshman injured in a weekend football scrimmage with another Temecula team was on the mend Wednesday, authorities said.A 14-year-old
Devin Bernal, who reportedly recently moved here from New Jersey with his family, was injured during a game with kids from Linfield Christian School.
Devin was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, then airlifted to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego for further tests, Temecula Valley Unified School District information officer Melanie Norton confirmed to Patch.
"Devin's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, however he is still under the care of doctors. He remains in the hospital, but was removed from the Intensive Care Unit earlier in the week," Norton wrote Patch in an email.
According to a booster with the Temecula Valley High School Bear Backers, Devin suffered a fairly serious concussion.
"Devin and his family are still very much in need of positive thoughts and prayers from all of us," Norton added.
